22q11.2 deletion syndrome

- most common chromosomal microdeletion in humans (1 in every 6,000 people) (O'Rourke and Murphy, 2019)

- psychiatric comorbidities affect up to ¾ of all diagnosed individuals and they have a 30x higher risk of developing psychosis and a 6x higher risk of developing schizophrenia compared to the general population (O'Rourke and Murphy, 2019)
